How to Create a Free Online Wedding Invitation
Our Sweet Day Team, February 22, 2026
A wedding gets expensive quickly, and printed invitations are one of the easier costs to cut. This guide walks through making a free wedding invitation website on Our Sweet Day, from picking a template to collecting replies.
Why Couples Are Choosing Digital Wedding Invitations
Printed invitation suites commonly cost $250–$900 once you add envelopes, inserts and delivery. A digital invitation reaches guests the same day through WhatsApp, Messenger or any messaging app, collects RSVPs for you, and gives relatives further away the same invitation as everyone close by.
Step 1: Sign Up for Free
Create an account at oursweetday.com. No card is needed, and every event is free for up to 20 guests with your full design. You can build and preview your whole invitation before you decide to publish.
Step 2: Pick One of the 111 Wedding Templates
Each template has its own layout and structure; they are not recolours of one page. The previews on the Templates page are live, so you can scroll through each one the way a guest would. Among the Signature templates:
- The Suite — a stationery suite you scroll through card by card: invitation card, details card, program, sponsors card, reply card and wax seal
- The Feature — your wedding as a magazine, with a cover and masthead, contents page, your story as an article, "Who's Who" credits and a reply coupon
- Premiere — your wedding as a film: letterboxed opening titles, showtimes, end credits for the entourage and an "admit one" ticket RSVP
- Botanica — a pressed-flower field journal with line botanicals that draw themselves, specimen labels and a vine timeline
- Monument — a Swiss typographic poster with giant date numerals, numbered modules, a timetable and a countdown
- Postmarked — a destination wedding by airmail, with a passport-stamp story, postcards for venues and a boarding-pass RSVP
Step 3: Create Your Event
Click "New event" and choose Wedding. You only need your two first names, the date and time, the ceremony venue and address, and a template. If the date isn't set yet, leave it blank and add it later.
Step 4: Fill In Your Details
The editor shows a live preview of your invitation in a phone or desktop frame and saves as you type. Work through the tabs:
- Words — your names and parents, the opening line, invitation wording, closing words, hashtag, and your story with milestones
- Day & places — ceremony date, time, venue, address and a note; reception venue, address, time and map link; the program
- People — principal sponsors as pairs (you can paste a whole list at once), candle, veil and cord sponsors, and the entourage with one-tap role chips
- Photos — a main photo with a focal point, and up to 12 gallery photos
- Guests — a dress code note with up to 6 colours, a gifts note and links, and answers to questions guests ask
- RSVP — the reply-by date, how long guests can change their reply, a "not sure yet" option, plus-one names and a note above the form
Sections you leave empty never appear on the invitation, so you only fill in what applies to your wedding.
Step 5: Choose a Palette and Type Pairing
In the Design tab, each wedding template offers 4 curated colour palettes and at least 3 type pairings. You can also hide any section you'd rather keep private. If you change your mind about the template, switch to another one; everything you've written carries over.
Step 6: Add Guests and Send Personal Links
Add guests one at a time or import a CSV file. Each guest gets a personal invitation link that you can email from Our Sweet Day or copy into WhatsApp, Messenger or any messaging app. Guests reply inside the invitation's own RSVP section, with plus-ones (adults and kids), dietary needs and a note.
Step 7: Publish
Publishing is free for up to 20 guests; past that the wedding takes one wedding credit. Your public link (for example oursweetday.com/james-and-maria) then shows the invitation exactly as you designed it.
Gifts
In the Guests tab, add a gifts note and up to 6 links, such as a registry or a cash fund.
