Sharing Your Wedding Invitation: Public Links, Personal Links and Group Links
Our Sweet Day Team, January 15, 2026
Publishing your invitation is only half the job. Here's how to get it in front of every guest and make sure their replies land in the right place.
Three Kinds of Links
- Public link — when you publish, your invitation gets a clean address like oursweetday.com/juan-and-maria. Anyone with it can view the invitation.
- Personal links — every guest on your list gets their own link. When they reply, their answer goes straight to their entry, with the plus-one limits you set for them. Guests who open their personal link always see your full design.
- Shared links — a labelled link for a group, such as "Office colleagues" or a family group chat, with its own plus-one limit and an optional maximum number of uses.
Sending Personal Links
From the guest list, email guests their personal link directly, or copy a guest's link and send it on WhatsApp, Messenger or any messaging app. Sending each guest their own link is the most reliable way to get accurate replies.
Sharing on Messaging Apps
- WhatsApp or Messenger — the most common way couples share invitations
- Email — for formal invitations and guests who prefer it
Social Media
If you're comfortable with a wider audience seeing it, post the public link on Facebook or in an Instagram Story. For most weddings, personal links are a better fit, since you control exactly who is invited.
QR Code
Your event page shows a QR code for the public link, which you can add to a printed card for guests who prefer paper.
Download as Image
You can also download your invitation as an image (PNG) to send to guests who'd rather have a picture.
Tips for Higher Response Rates
1. Send the link with a personal message, not just the URL
2. Follow up with guests who haven't replied as the deadline approaches
3. Send to smaller groups rather than one large blast
4. Remind guests they can change their reply until the date you set
