The Members' Scorecard: a birthday invitation template
A milestone birthday printed as a heritage golf club's scorecard: the flag is planted, the ball is putted into the cup, and the pencil writes the age in the score box.
The design
The invitation is the card for one special competition at a private club: heavy cream board, letterpress in club green, a short pencil and a red pin flag. On the cover the member's portrait sits in a ruled window above a strip of putting green; the flagstick drops into the cup, a ball rolls along the green, hangs on the lip, drops, and the pencil writes the age in the score box and circles it. The club is founded the year the celebrant was born. Inside, every fold of the card does its job: the Committee's notice of competition, the starter's clock, the life story as pages of a yardage book (tap a page and the carry line draws from tee to green), the card's pencilled header for where and when, and the evening as the scorecard itself: two nines, each event a hole with its tee time, the rest quiet par lines, the age as the total and the 19th hole as the after-party. A brass plaque for grown-ups only, tee markers for the dress code, photographs from the clubhouse wall, the prize table for gifts, the local rules for questions, and the reply as signing and attesting the card: the pencil signs, the Attested stamp comes down and the flag is lifted from the hole. Next round: the age plus one.
Colours and type
The Members' Scorecard comes in 3 colourways: Members' Green, Navy Blazer and Autumn Tweed, with 2 type pairings: Libre Caslon & Barlow Condensed and Bodoni Moda & Spectral. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
