The Speakeasy: a birthday invitation template
The invitation is a hidden 1920s bar named for the guest of honour: knock the secret knock at a door with no sign, whisper the password, and read the night from the house's leather cocktail menu.
The design
Opens in a lane at night, at a lacquered green door under a lamp. The guest knocks the secret knock (two quick, one slow), the brass peephole slides back, a pair of eyes looks them over, "Password?", "Shh.", and the door swings in on a warm room. Inside, everything is the bar's own printed matter: a leather menu cover with a gold-foil Deco frame, the birthday guest's portrait tipped into an arched window and the name in foil with "Est." and the birth year; then cream card-stock pages printed in black and oxblood. A surprise party's password page carries the secret behind a sliding peephole; the house rules card holds the adults-only note; the history of the house runs by year; the program is the cocktail list, each moment of the night a drink with its time in the price column, and the house special can be shaken and poured. The bar's matchbook carries the address (open it and strike a match), the dress code comes as ink swatches, photos are tipped-in plates, gifts go on the tab, the bartender answers questions, and the reply puts your name on the door list, stamped ON THE LIST. It closes at last call: "Next round: Theo turns 31".
Colours and type
The Speakeasy comes in 3 colourways: Bottle green & brass, Oxblood & bone and Midnight & gin, with 2 type pairings: Bodoni & League Gothic and Gloock & Antonio. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
Who it suits
Made for adult, in the Themed style.
