Ballet Recital Programme: a birthday invitation template
The invitation is an opera-house recital programme: velvet tabs part on the birthday girl, the party is billed in Acts and a music box dancer turns when you wind it.
The design
Opens on a little stage: a gilt proscenium under a fringed velvet pelmet, the footlights glowing on one by one, then the tabs part on the child's photo in the follow-spot and her name is flown in, in gilt, with the age in a cartouche above the stage. The rest is the printed programme: ivory pages with gilt rules, Didone type and roman numerals. A cast list (prima ballerina, directors, corps de ballet, and the audience: you), an overture with a lacquered music box whose little dancer pirouettes when you tap the key, programme notes and a repertoire for the story, the theatre for the venue, the order of performance with a follow-spot that moves to the scene you tap, notes for chaperones, a wardrobe page whose pointe shoes lace their own ribbons, rehearsal-room plates for the photos, bouquets at the stage door for gifts, a word from the box office for questions, and a box-office slip with a seating plan for the reply: send it and your seat lights up in gilt as roses land on the slip. It ends at the curtain call, where guests can throw a rose and shout bravo.
