The Group Chat: a birthday invitation template
The birthday told as the group chat everyone is in: bubbles, reactions, a voice note, a shared location and a photo album, where replying means sending your own message.
The design
Guests open a night-mode group chat of our own, named for the party, with the countdown pinned at the top. The thread loads the way chats do: a typing bubble, the birthday photo arriving as a photo message, then the news in giant type, and reactions landing on it. From there everything is a message. The date comes as a calendar card, the venue as a shared location with a drawn map, the plan for the night as a shared list, the story as messages forwarded from every year of their life, the dress code as a poll you can vote in, the photos as an album that opens full screen, the gifts as a link preview and the questions as friends asking and the hosts replying. Tap the little plus by any bubble to react. The reply is written in the composer and lands in the thread as your own message, with a tick, then two, then a heart from the birthday star. Works for every kind: parents get a message just for them with drop-off, pick-up and allergies; grown-ups get a chat hidden from the birthday star with a spoiler to tap for the secret, and the group rules for adults only; debuts get the 18 Roses as a sub-group of dance partners, the 18 Candles to light one by one, the 18 Treasures as a shared checklist, toasts as a burst of messages, the court as paired members and the parents' message as a voice note with its transcript.
Colours and type
The Group Chat comes in 3 colourways: Midnight, Paper and Fern, with 2 type pairings: Instrument Serif & Sans and Young Serif & Schibsted. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
Who it suits
Made for kids, adult and debut, in the Themed style.

You write your own words and add your photos in the live editor, send every guest a personal link by email or any messaging app, and follow the replies as they come in.
