The Certificate: a christening invitation template
An engraved baptismal certificate on a leather writing desk: press the brass stamp into the molten wax to seal it, and watch the godparents sign in ink.
The design
The invitation is one engraved certificate lying on a leather writing desk, made of real things rather than drawings: heavy cotton paper, a guilloché rosette and border cut line by line the way an engraving lathe cuts a banknote plate, a wax seal on two silk ribbons and a brass seal stamp with a turned walnut handle (rendered in 3D, the wax in each palette's own colour), and a fountain pen. The certificate is set down on the desk and the rosette prints round the child's name. The guest presses and holds the stamp into the molten wax and the seal is made. Every part of the day is a numbered clause: particulars of the child on dotted leaders, particulars of the ceremony with a rubber dater that strikes the date and a numbering machine counting the days, the sponsors signing their names as the pen passes along the line, the order of proceedings, the parents' declaration, the attire as a printer's colour bar, photographs held in paper corners, the questions as footnotes, and the reply as the register of witnesses, where the guest's own name is written in ink.
Colours and type
The Certificate comes in 5 colourways: Parchment with burgundy wax, Parchment with navy ribbon, Parchment with forest ribbon, Linen with slate ribbon and Parchment with rose wax, with 2 type pairings: Engrossed copperplate and Registrar's hand. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
