Royal Dance Card: a birthday invitation template
The invitation is her dance card for a grand ball: an engraved ivory card on a silk cord, where the eighteen roses are the dances and every partner's name is pencilled on its line.
The design
Opens on the front of an engraved ivory dance card lying on velvet. The gilt rules draw themselves round, her portrait opens in its oval cartouche, and the little pencil on the card's silk cord writes her name in copperplate; after a held beat the wax seal is pressed onto the cord and the tassel swings. Inside, everything is a line of the same card: the order of the evening with dotted leaders, the court as the sets of the opening quadrille, the 18 Roses as the dances themselves (No. 1 Polonaise to the Last Waltz with her father, tap a dance to tick it off), the 18 Candles as a candle interlude whose tapers you can light one by one, the 18 Treasures as the favours of the cotillion, the bills and toasts as their own dances, the parents' message inscribed inside the cover, the dress code with colours as silk tassels, portraits of the season in engraved ovals, and the rules of the ball on the back. To reply, the guest reserves a dance: the pencil writes "Engaged" on their line and the seal is pressed beside it.
Colours and type
Royal Dance Card comes in 3 colourways: Claret velvet & ivory, Midnight sapphire & silver and Dusk rose & champagne, with 2 type pairings: Bodoni Moda & EB Garamond and Cormorant & Libre Caslon. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
