Opening Night Premiere: a birthday invitation template
Her debut as an old-Hollywood world premiere: her name in marquee lights, her star in the pavement, the red carpet to the doors and a souvenir programme where the 18 Roses are the cast and the 18 Candles the crew.
The design
Opens at night outside the Aurelia, a 1950s picture palace of our own. The marquee bulbs switch on in a chase, the milk-glass board lights up and an usher hangs her name letter by letter; after a held beat the poster case flickers on with her photograph as the one-sheet. Below, her star is set in a terrazzo pavement with the age in brass (tap to polish it), and the red carpet runs between brass stanchions and velvet ropes to the doors, where press flashbulbs pop wherever you tap. Inside, the guest holds the souvenir programme: tonight's running order, About the Star with her filmography, the 18 Roses as the cast in order of appearance (tap a name for an autograph), the 18 Candles as the crew credits (each with a little lamp to light), the cotillion company and her escort, the 18 Treasures as numbered prop tags, the backers and the toasts, a word from the producers (her parents), wardrobe colours as lighting gels, lobby cards for the photos, the box office and notes for the audience. The reply is the premiere ticket: the usher punches it and stamps it Admitted. The night ends back outside, the marquee reading Held Over.
Colours and type
Opening Night Premiere comes in 3 colourways: Opening night: carpet red & brass, Silver screen: claret & nickel and Technicolor dusk: rose red & gold, with 2 type pairings: Limelight & Libre Baskerville and Italiana & Cormorant Garamond. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
Who it suits
