Fairy Garden under the Ferns: a birthday invitation template
The invitation is a tiny fairy garden at dusk: a door in a tree root opens on the birthday girl, a fairy-light trail lights up as you walk it, and every detail is written on little signposts and leaves.
The design
Opens at fairy scale, under the ferns at dusk: a tiny arched door set into a mossy tree root, a giant acorn and toadstools beside it, and a string of fairy lights overhead. A fairy (a little glow with wings) flies along the string lighting every bulb, knocks on the door, and it swings open on the child's photo in the warm doorway, while the house number above the door shows her age. The rest of the page is the garden path: the details are carved on wooden signposts, written on leaves pinned with a thorn and engraved on brass plaques. The countdown is chalked on pebbles, the story hangs down a vine, the venue waits behind a second door you knock on to open, the program is a fairy-light trail whose bulbs light up as you walk it (tap one and it flares), the parents' notes are pinned to a toadstool, the photos look out of little arched windows, the gifts are in a giant acorn whose cap pops off, and the reply is left at a letterbox door: send it and a fairy carries it up, the window lights and you're on the guest list. It ends in the night garden, with a dandelion to blow for a wish.
