Steamboat Willie: a birthday invitation template
A 1928 black-and-white Mickey Mouse sound cartoon: Mickey whistles at the wheel, the iris opens on your child, and the party plays out in title cards.
The design
Plays like the cartoon that started it all. The projector flickers on, Mickey whistles at the steamboat's wheel in real frames from Steamboat Willie (1928), and the iris closes, then opens on the main title: the hosts present a sound cartoon named for the child, the photo in the iris and the age as the cartoon's number. Every section is a scene of the reel: an academy leader counts down the days, the story runs in Art Deco intertitles with the years in Roman numerals, the venue is where the boat docks, the program is a cue sheet beside Mickey and Minnie cranking the goat, the photos are two film strips, the questions are dialogue cards, the reply is boarding the boat, and it closes with an iris-out on laughing Mickey and THE END.
Colours and type
Steamboat Willie comes in 3 colourways: Nitrate silver, Sepia print and Night tint, with 2 type pairings: Limelight & Old Standard and Abril Fatface & Crimson Pro. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
Who it suits
Made for kids, in the Themed style.
