Minnie's Garden Picnic: a birthday invitation template
A lift-the-flap board book lying open on a gingham picnic blanket: Minnie's garden picnic, starring the birthday toddler.
The design
The whole invitation is a chunky toddler board book, the kind every two-year-old chews, lying open on a red gingham picnic blanket. The cover reads "Minnie's Garden Picnic" with a nibbled corner and an "Ages 2+" badge; the child's photo sits in a die-cut window with a gingham flap over it asking "Who's coming to the picnic?", and the flap lifts and flips down to say "It's Sofia! She's turning 2!" while Minnie offers her a sunflower. Every page after that is a thick rounded board page with one big read-aloud question and the answer in big friendly type: "How many sleeps until the picnic?" under a flap, the venue under a flap, the program as a tell-the-time page with little clock faces, a page for the grown-ups to pack, the colours to wear under a flap, peekaboo photos, the questions grown-ups ask, and a last page to reply with Minnie peeking over the top. Ants march along the grass at the foot of every page, one more on each page. The back cover has Mickey and Minnie holding hands, "The End", the small print ("Contains small parts: cake crumbs") and "Also in this series: Sofia turns 3".
Colours and type
Minnie's Garden Picnic comes in 3 colourways: Red gingham, Pink gingham & lemonade and Blue gingham & daisies, with 2 type pairings: Sniglet & Andika and Baloo 2 & Lexend. The colours and type change in the editor at any time; the layout stays its own.
