Sweet Shop Board Game: a birthday invitation template
The invitation is a candy-coloured board game of the child's own: the box lid is the cover, and one winding trail of sweet squares runs through the whole party to the birthday cake.
The design
Opens on the lid of "The Sweet Shop Game": the child's photo in a die-cut window, the name as the game's chunky logo, and a spinner printed on the box. The spinner is flicked, the arrow slows onto the age, and the child's pawn hops square by square along the lid's path to the cake, where a "turns 5" sticker lands in a shower of sprinkles. Below the lid the board is unfolded: one trail of pastel candy squares winds down the whole page, and every part of the party is a stop on it. Start is the countdown, the story is a hand of sweet cards, the venue is the sweet shop itself with its name on the sign, and the program is the trail: spin the spinner and a pawn hops from activity to activity. Grown-ups get a printed note on the board, guests pick their piece from the box's tray in the dress-code colours, photos are picture cards, gifts are a bonus space with a deck to draw from, questions are the rules leaflet, and the reply is the score pad, where your pawn hops to the cake and a "You're in!" stamp lands. It ends on the cake space: everybody wins, and the next game is when the child turns one year older.
